El 40 por ciento de las personas retenidas en los Centros de Internamiento de Extranjeros (CIEs) ha sufrido un trato negativo e incluso torturas, la mayoría desconoce quién es su abogado y carecen de lo básico como inodoros en las celdas y ropa.
Un informe presentado hoy por la Comisión Española de Ayuda al Refugiado (CEAR) refleja las condiciones y el trato que reciben los internos en tres de los ocho CIEs existentes en España (Málaga, Madrid y Valencia), tras visitarlos y realizar más de un centenar de entrevistas a los extranjeros y a los funcionarios.
La investigación ha sido expuesta al Ministerio del Interior -de los que dependen los CIEs- y fruto de ello se han abierto diligencias por un presunto caso de maltrato en el centro de Aluche (Madrid), ha explicado el director del informe, el psiquiatra Pau Pérez-Sales.
El 40 por ciento de los internos entrevistados relatan un trato "negativo o muy negativo" por parte de los funcionarios, aunque no sea una "práctica generalizada", y un cuatro por ciento apuntan incluso a torturas, ha añadido Pérez-Sales.
Ha recalcado, en este contexto, que el 63 por ciento de quienes están en los CIEs no son delincuentes sino personas que han incurrido en una falta de administrativa por no tener los papeles en regla.
A juicio del secretario general de CEAR, Alfredo Abad, los centros de internamiento "repugnan" al Estado de Derecho español y su situación exige tomar medidas.
