Al Qaeda en el Magreb Islámico dijo el martes que es la autora del secuestro de tres cooperantes españoles en Mauritania y de un francés en Mali, según informó Al Yazira en su página web.
La reivindicación se hace en una cinta de audio pasada a la cadena de televisión con sede en Doha, agregó.
"Francia y España serán informadas posteriormente de las legítimas demandas de los muyahidines", dijo el portavoz, que se identificó en la cinta como Saleh Abu Mohammad, según Al Yazira.
Los tres cooperantes de la ONG catalana Barcelona Acció Solidària desaparecieron el 29 de noviembre en Mauritania cuando fueron secuestrados del convoy en el que llevaban ayuda humanitaria a varios países africanos y que se dirigía por la carretera entre Nuadibú y la capital, Nuakchott .
El Ministerio español de Asuntos Exteriores dijo que estaba investigando la noticia y que no podía confirmar la reivindicación.
No obstante, las autoridades españoles señalaron poco después del secuestro que había muchas posibilidades de que fuera obra de Al Qaeda en la zona.
Unos hombres armados secuestraron a un francés en el este de Mali el 26 de noviembre, dijo una fuente gubernamental, lo que llevó al Gobierno francés a pedir a sus ciudadanos que dejen el norte y el este del país africano ante el aumento de la amenaza integrista.
