El medicamento líder en ventas de Rochellamado Avastin ayuda a los pacientes que padecen la forma máscomún de cáncer pulmonar a vivir por más tiempo que cualquierotro tratamiento, informó el viernes el laboratorio suizo.
La noticia brinda al fármaco un impulso luego de varioscontratiempos.
Un ensayo en estadio avanzado mostró que la terapia deprimera línea en base a Avastin en los pacientes conadenocarcinoma pulmonar de células no pequeñas generaba unasupervivencia general de 14,2 meses, lo que implica una mejorade 3,9 meses en relación con la quimioterapia solamente.
El ensayo probó a Avastin con una quimioterapia depaclitaxel y carboplatino.
La medicación líder en ventas de Roche ha padecidocomplicaciones este año, con obstáculos relacionados al cáncerde próstata y al gástrico. Además, el mes pasado un panelestadounidense pidió a los funcionarios que revoquen suaprobación para el cáncer de pecho.
Se espera que Avastin, que ya está aprobado para tratar elcáncer de colon, pulmón, cerebro y riñón, se convierta en elfármaco más vendido del mundo en el 2014.
