El ciclista Italiano Alessandro Ballan se impuso el sábado en la primera etapa de montaña de la Vuelta a España,ganando además el liderato de la competición en una jornada lluviosa, donde Ezequiel Mosquera fue segundo por delante de AlbertoContador.
El italiano arrebató en esta séptima etapa el maillot amarillo que portaba el francés Sylvain Chavanel, en una carrera pirineica dondedestacaron unas deplorables condiciones climáticas que incluían precipitaciones, frío y niebla.
Los favoritos de la Vuelta no disfrutaron de una buen carrera en esta etapa difícil antes de los últimos kilómetros de ascensión del Alto de laRabassa.
El español Ezequiel Mosquera emprendió un ataque que le otorgó el segundo puesto por delante de Contador.
El líder de Astana lleva ahora 13 segundos de ventaja con respecto a Alejandro Valverde y a Carlos Sastre.
El estadounidense Levi Leipheimer es ahora segundo en la clasificación general, a un minuto de Ballan y 21 segundos por delante deChavanel, quien fue decimoquinto.
