La cadena de librerías Barnes & Noble ha aplazado el lanzamiento en tiendas de su lector electrónico Nook hasta principios de 2010, indicando que está dando prioridad a las reservas que ya ha recibido.
La empresa anunció en noviembre que enviaría a sus grandes tiendas el recién lanzado Nook a partir del 7 de diciembre, para permitir a los clientes comprar un lector y llevárselo a casa.
Sin embargo, sólo se han enviado los modelos para demostración de las tiendas y Barnes & Noble está aceptando reservas, indicó el lunes la portavoz Mary Ellen Keating.
"En este momento, debido a la demanda, estamos trabajando muy duro para cumplir esos encargos antes de las fiestas", afirmó.
Los analistas han señalado que los problemas de abastecimiento de Nook podrían ayudar a las ventas del lector rival Kindle, de Amazon.com.
Barnes & Noble, que lanzó su dispositivo a finales de octubre, dijo el mes pasado que había agotado sus existencias de Nook debido a la fuerte demanda. Desde entonces, ha estado esforzándose por entregar los aparatos, de 259 dólares (unos 174 euros), a los clientes que los encargaron antes del 20 de noviembre. La compañía ha dicho que las reservas posteriores a esa fecha no se cumplirán hasta enero.
