Cuatro personas murieron el jueves cuando un hombre armado abrió fuego en un centro comercial de Finlandia, informó la policía, en el tercer incidente de ese tipo en el país en el mismo número de años.
El sospechoso, un hombre de 43 años, Ibrahim Shkupolli, todavía estaba libre y se consideraba armado y peligroso, dijo la policía en un comunicado. Las víctimas del ataque en la ciudad de Espoo, cerca de Helsinki, fueron tres hombres y una mujer que realizaban compras antes de Año Nuevo.
El periódico local Helsingin Sanomat dijo en su web que una quinta víctima, a la que identificó como la ex esposa del sospechoso, había sido encontrada muerta en un apartamento en Espoo.
El país escandinavo se vio sacudido por sendos tiroteos en colegios en 2007 y 2008, tras lo que ajustó las normas sobre tenencia de armas.
Un reportero de Reuters en el centro comercial Sello vio helicópteros y coches de bomberos alrededor de las entradas del centro comercial, que fue cerrado.
"Cuando estábamos saliendo oímos ruidos como de disparos desde la tercera planta, y luego me fui", dijo un empleado del centro, que evitó dar su nombre.
"Pagué mis compras y quería ir a mi coche cuando me dijeron que no podía hacerlo", dijo Jorma Romo a Reuters frente al centro comercial.
El diario Ilta-Sanomat dijo en su web que hubo al menos siete disparos, pero no ofreció la fuente de la información.
