La banda británica de rock Deep Purple provocó ayer el éxtasis entre unos seguidores entregados en un concierto ofrecido en las ruinas romanas de Baalbeck y junto a una exposición que muestra las "hazañas" de Hizbulá.
En el marco del Festival Internacional de Baalbeck, el conjunto, que se formó a finales de la década de los 60, ofreció un concierto de más de hora y media sin interrupciones y provocó el delirio entre los espectadores, la mayoría jóvenes y adolescentes.
La ciudad de Baalbeck, erigida originalmente por los fenicios en honor del Dios de la lluvia y de la fecundidad, fue uno de los principales asentamientos romanos en la zona y en la actualidad es uno de los conjuntos monumentales mejor conservados del mundo.
Cada verano en el Líbano, si la situación lo permite, se desarrolla en su interior este festival, que en esta edición acogió una muestra de imágenes sobre las actuaciones de la Resistencia islámica, sobre todo durante la guerra de 2006, el brazo armado de Hizbulá, el grupo chií libanés.
