Los 25,98 millones de nuevos títulos que tuvo que emitir Banco Popular para afrontar el canje de acciones de la fusión con el Banco de Andalucía comienzan a cotizar mañana en la Bolsa española.
El viernes, la entidad presidida por Ángel Ron informó de que los títulos del Banco de Andalucía dejaban de cotizar al cierre del mercado, una vez finalizado el proceso de fusión.
En mayo, el Banco Popular anunció la fusión por absorción del Banco de Andalucía mediante un canje de seis acciones del primero por cada una del segundo con el objetivo de obtener un "significativo nivel de sinergia de costes operativos y de explotación, una mejora de la eficiencia en la gestión", así como dar "mayor liquidez y profundidad a los accionistas".
El Popular, titular directo del 80,071 por ciento del Banco de Andalucía, también absorbió a finales de noviembre de 2008 a sus otras filiales (Banco de Castilla, Banco de Crédito Balear, Banco de Galicia y Banco de Vasconia) para "simplificar" la gestión y facilitar un mayor volumen y frecuencia de negociación a los accionistas.
