Melilla acogerá a partir de hoy jueves el Foro de Economía y Política Regional, que reunirá en la ciudad a los directores generales responsables de la gestión de fondos europeos de las 17 comunidades autónomas, además de Ceuta y Melilla.
En rueda de prensa, el consejero de Presidencia melillense, Abdelmalik El Barkani, ha explicado que el encuentro se inaugurará mañana y se prolongará hasta el viernes con las exposiciones de los asistentes.
La reunión, que es de carácter cuatrimestral, tiene como objetivo analizar el tratamiento que se hace de los fondos que se reciben procedentes de la Unión Europea (UE), basados en el control y verificación de los distintos programas y proyectos cofinanciados.
Según El Barkani, se trata de un foro "eminentemente técnico" que abordará, sobre todo, las perspectivas que se presentan con la presidencia española en la UE.
El Foro de Economía y Política Regional comenzó a reunirse a principios de los 90 y, desde entonces, Melilla ha acogido dos reuniones de este órgano.
