El ministro alemán de Economía, el liberal Rainer Brüderle, insiste en que el consorcio estadounidense General Motors debe cargar con los costes del saneamiento de su filial Opel, ya que ha decidido no venderla, y afirma que si los "Länder" con plantas de la marca deciden contribuir es cuestión suya.
"Es tarea del consorcio matriz GM superar las dificultades de su filial", apunta en el dominical "Bild am Sonntag", donde añade que así se lo transmitió a los directivos del consorcio y Opel Europea, con los que se reunió el pasado jueves.
"Si los primeros ministros (de los "Länder") ven posibilidades de aportar ayudas con medios de sus presupuestos son libres de hacerlo", afirma, respecto a los cuatro estados federados con plantas de Opel.
En medios alemanes se cuenta con un acercamiento de posturas entre GM y Berlín tras el "gesto" de buena voluntad del consorcio de trasladar su central europea de Zúrich a Rüsselsheim, donde se encuentra ya la planta principal de Opel.
GM pretende mostrar con esa mudanza -que debe completarse antes de fin de año- su determinación de concentrarse en la reestructuración de Opel.
Según el semanario "Der Spiegel", tanto la canciller Angela Merkel como su ministro de Finanzas, Wolfgang Schäuble, están de acuerdo en apoyar un plan de saneamiento, pese al malestar causado por la decisión de no vender su filial a Magna y en contra del parecer de su socio de gobierno, el Partido Liberal (FDP).
Merkel ha "exculpado" al presidente estadounidense Barack Obama del fracaso de la venta a Magna e insistido en que GM debe devolver al completo el crédito puente que en su momento recibió de Berlín.
El gobierno alemán otorgó a Opel un crédito puente de 1.500 millones para preservar la filial europea de GM de la quiebra de su matriz, de los que se han utilizado 700 millones.
Hasta ahora, el consorcio estadounidense ha devuelto 200 millones de euros y hasta el próximo 30 de noviembre debe pagar otros 400 millones de euros.
