Antonio Cubillo Ferreira, que fue líder del movimiento independentista canario MPAIAC, falleció hoy a los 82 años en su domicilio de la capital tinerfeña, informaron a Efe fuentes familiares.
La muerte se produjo durante la madrugada y Antonio Cubillo, recordaron las fuentes, tenía problemas de salud, en especial circulatorios, desde que en 1978 sufrió un atentado que le impidió caminar sin ayuda de muletas.
Casado y con tres hijos, Antonio Cubillo Ferreira nació en el municipio tinerfeño de La Laguna el 3 de julio de 1930 y era licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad de La Laguna. Recientemente su sobrino Eduardo Cubillo realizó un documental en el que habla con José Luis Espinosa, el autor de las puñaladas que Antonio Cubillo recibió en Argel, país en el que se había exiliado.
Antonio Cubillo Ferreira mantuvo hasta el final de su vida el discurso de reclamar la independencia para las islas Canarias.
