La NASA anunció hoy el descubrimiento de unas manchas superficiales que aparecen en las laderas de Marte durante la temporada calurosa y se desvanecen en la temporada de frío que podrían estar formadas por agua salada.
El hallazgo se ha hecho gracias al análisis de fotos tomadas por el Experimento Científico de Imágenes de Alta Resolución (HiRise) del Orbitador de Reconocimiento de Marte (MRO), que explora el planeta rojo desde 2006.
El director de la investigación científica del programa de exploración a Marte de la agencia espacial estadounidense, Michael Meyer, hizo el anuncio en una rueda de prensa junto con el profesor Alfred McEwen, de la Universidad de Arizona, entre otros miembros del equipo.
