El endeudado fabricante de equipos de telecomunicaciones Nortel Networks, que presentó protección por bancarrota a principios de este año, está contemplando segregarse vendiendo sus principales divisiones, informó el jueves el Globe and Mail.
En lugar de intentar recomponerse tras la protección por bancarrota, el periódico informó de que la compañía está considerando ofertas de posibles compradores que estén interesados en adquirir su unidad de equipos inalámbricos, además de una división aparte que fabrica equipos de telecomunicaciones para oficina.
El periódico citó sin nombrar a una fuente familiarizada con las negociaciones que aseguró que "hay un proceso en marcha", mientras que otra fuente indicó al diario: "El consenso es que será dividida".
El portavoz de Nortel Mohamed Najuda no quiso comentar la información.
En enero, la compañía presentó protección por bancarrota en Canadá, Estados Unidos y otros lugares, en un intento por reestructurarse al mismo tiempo que mantenía a los acreedores a raya.
