El presidente de la empresa automovilística Opel, Hans Demant, ha asegurado a sus empleados que tratará de evitar "con todas las fuerzas" el cierre de plantas, pero que deben prepararse para "medidas dolorosas" con el fin de salvar la empresa.
En declaraciones que aparecen en la próxima edición de la revista económica "Wirtschaftswoche", Demant reconoce que el cierre de factorías "sólo tiene sentido económicamente, pero no cuando se piensa en los muchos puestos de trabajo y destinos humanos".
A su vez, el ministro alemán de Economía, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, ha desmentido que no existan inversores potenciales para la empresa Opel, como asegura el semanario "Der Spiegel" en su próxima edición.
"Hay conversaciones con interesados serios y menos serios", dijo Guttenberg hoy en la localidad de Erlangen, donde recordó que el Gobierno alemán sólo puede apoyar los esfuerzos a la búsqueda de inversores, pero "no asumir la tarea de encontrarlos".
El presidente de Opel aseguró en la entrevista que su empresa sólo necesita ayudas para superar la crisis durante los próximos dos años, pero que, pasado ese tiempo, la firma automovilística "volverá a tener beneficios claros".
Añade que la dirección de Opel negocia actualmente con el comité de empresa sobre medidas encaminadas a reducir los costes como reducciones o renuncias salariales.
"Lo cierto es que debemos ahorrar dinero. Si encontramos una vía para al final ahorrar tanto como lo que supondría el cierre de plantas, por supuesto que seguiríamos ese camino", afirma Demant.
