Desde los laboratorios tecnológicos a las sesiones de fotos, un robot humanoide japonés exhibirá pronto su hardware y software sobre las pasarelas de moda.
El elegante HRP-4C funciona con motores de pilas localizados en su cuerpo y cara, permitiendo expresiones, y posa y anda como una supermodelo, pero con una apariencia de guardia de asalto en negro y plata.
Los actuales 43 kilos y 1,58 cm de la modelo cibernética han reducido peso de los iniciales 58 kilos del robot de cara a su debut en el desfile de moda de Tokio el 23 de marzo.
Su nueva forma está pensada para ajustarse al promedio de la mujer japonesa y tiene ojos, cara y pelo similares a los de los cómics "animados" nipones, dijo Masayoshi Kataoka, del Instituto Nacional para el Avance de la Tecnología e Industria científica, que desarrolló el modelo robótico.
Por el momento no hay planes para sacar al mercado el robot HRP-4C de dos millones de dólares.
Japón, país de casi la mitad de los 800.000 robots industriales, prevé una industria robótica de 10.000 millones de dólares en el futuro, particularmente como asistentes de su creciente población de la tercera edad.
Sin embargo, los diseñadores de la modelo humanoide dicen que está hecha sólo para entretener, no para hacer labores domésticas.
