El Consejo de Ministros ha acordado encomendar a Javier Solana la elaboración de la Estrategia Española de Seguridad, que estará basada en el análisis de los intereses vitales de los españoles y en el estudio de los riesgos y de las amenazas que afectan a España.
Según ha recordado en la rueda de prensa, posterior al Consejo de Ministros, la vicepresidenta primera del Gobierno, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, la Estrategia de Seguridad fue una de las propuestas del presidente del Gobierno en su discurso de investidura.
El texto de la estrategia deberá estar finalizado antes del 30 de noviembre del próximo año, según ha indicado Fernández de la Vega.
La vicepresidenta ha señalado que el análisis de los riesgos y amenazas permitirá 'formular las líneas estratégicas de actuación no sólo desde la perspectiva de la defensa militar o con la seguridad ciudadana, sino desde todos los aspectos que un concepto moderno de seguridad exige hoy día'.
De esta manera, ha añadido, se buscará la 'amplia participación y el consenso de todos los sectores interesados y de todas las fuerzas políticas'.
Fernández de la Vega ha comentado que el que fuera representante de la Política Exterior de la Unión Europa en los últimos diez años es 'una persona de gran experiencia y conocimiento', con una 'gran trayectoria' y que hasta hace sólo unas semanas ha sido 'un magnífico alto representante europeo'.
