Las autoridades suizas detuvieron a un clérigo islámico en la frontera con Alemania y evitaron que participara en un mitin contra la prohibición del país de construir minaretes, informó la prensa local.
Pierre Vogel, de nacionalidad alemana, tenía previsto asistir a un mitin en Berna el sábado por la noche, en una protesta contra la prohibición a la construcción de nuevos minaretes, aprobada por Suiza en un referéndum hace dos semanas.
Vogel intentó cruzar a Suiza en coche cerca de Basilea a las 22:30 hora local (21:30 GMT) del viernes, pero las autoridades le negaron la entrada y se vio obligado a regresar a Alemania, informó el diario Blick.
La agencia local de noticias SDA confirmó esta información, tras citar al portavoz de la autoridad fronteriza suiza Markus Zumbach, quien dijo que Vogel tenía prohibida la entrada al país por orden del Gobierno.
Suiza aprobó en votación prohibir la construcción de nuevos minaretes hace dos semanas, en un inesperado resultado que ha desatado la condena del mundo musulmán, varios de sus vecinos europeos y de Naciones Unidas.
Vogel objetó que le negaran el ingreso a Suiza pero cooperó con los efectivos de la frontera y firmó una orden que prohibía su entrada al país. Luego regresó a Alemania.
Las autoridades de la frontera en Basilea no estuvieron disponibles de inmediato el sábado para comentar estas informaciones.
