El ex primer ministro británico Tony Blair ha afirmado que, de tener la posibilidad, derrocaría al presidente de Zimbabue , Robert Mugabe , por 'destruir su país' y haber provocado la muerte de 'muchas personas'.
'Ese tipo ha destruido su país. Y muchas personas han muerto por su culpa', sostiene Blair sobre Mugabe, que gobierna el país desde la independencia en 1980, en una entrevista adelantada hoy por la revista alemana Stern.
En su opinión, si alguien tuviera el poder de derrocar al presidente zimbabuense 'debería hacerlo', ha afirmado indignado el ex mandatario británico.
En esta misma entrevista, el ex primer ministro británico afirmaba además que no lamenta la derrota de Sadam Hussein en Irak, aunque afirma que debe 'vivir con las consecuencias' de su decisión de participar en la invasión de ese país, en apoyo a Estados Unidos.
Blair admite que los indicios que apuntaban a que Irak albergaba armas de destrucción masiva 'resultaron falsos', pero añade que ni aún así lamenta haber 'derrotado' al dictador iraquí.
El enviado especial del Cuarteto para Oriente Medio -compuesto por la Unión Europea (UE), Estados Unidos, Rusia y Naciones Unidas- afirma también que lucha 'duramente' por los derechos de los palestinos. Sin embargo, sostiene que 'si Israel es atacado, debe poder también defenderse', añade en la entrevista.
