El delantero del Manchester United Wayne Rooney no recibirá sanción alguna por su presunto pisotón en el encuentro de Liga de Campeones de la semana pasada frente al AaB Aalborg danés, dijo el lunes la UEFA.
Rooney se enredó con Kasper Risgard y uno de sus pies hizo contacto con el pecho del jugador del Aalborg en el partido disputado en Old Trafford y que terminó 2-2.
El árbitro dejó seguir el juego en ese momento, pero el delantero, expulsado en el Mundial 2006 por pisar al defensor Ricardo Carvalho en un encuentro de los cuartos de final ante Portugal, se enfrentaba a una potencial sanción por las imágenes de televisión.
Sin embargo, un portavoz de la UEFA dijo a Reuters que no recibirá castigo alguno tras una investigación.
Risgard comentó la semana pasada que Rooney le pidió disculpas y agregó que no pensaba que debiera ser sancionado.
Las imágenes de vídeo, que podrían haber servido como prueba, descartaron al parecer intencionalidad de Rooney, quien actualmente se encuentra en Japón para disputar el Mundial de Clubes junto al United, el actual campeón del fútbol europeo.
