Uri Geller, el parapsicólogo que se hizo famoso mundialmente en la década de los 70 deteniendo relojes a distancia y doblando cucharillas con el roce de sus dedos, dará a conocer imágenes privadas y nunca vistas de Michael Jackson.
Las imágenes formarán parte de "Mi amigo Michael Jacskon: la historia de Uri", un programa de una hora de duración que emitirá la cadena británica de televisión ITV en fecha aún por determinar.
Geller manifestó que su intención al hacer públicas estas imágenes de su archivo personal, que se venderán a cadenas televisivas de todo el mundo, es dar a conocer al Jackson "real".
Las secuencias muestran al "rey del pop" visitando por la noche los grandes almacenes Harrods de Londres, donde podía gastarse cientos de miles de dólares en unas horas, haciendo de padrino en la ceremonia en la que Geller renovó sus votos matrimoniales o visitando las instalaciones del club de fútbol Exeter City.
Las imágenes serán el eje central de un relato en el que el parapsicólogo israelí recordará sus vivencias con Jackson y abordará los aspectos polémicos que rodearon la vida del cantante.
"Este es el Michael Jackson real, la manera en la que un puñado de amigos tuvimos el privilegio de verle: relajado, ingenioso, cariñoso, listo, sincero y auténtico", explicó Geller.
El programa "da a las audiencias de todo el mundo la oportunidad de experimentar la realidad de vivir con Michael", añadió.
Geller se mostró especialmente feliz de haber conservado las imágenes en las que Michael aparece como su padrino, porque, según explicó, "es uno de esos raros cruces de caminos en los que el espectáculo se convierte en Historia, en algo de una gran importancia para cientos de millones de personas".
"Me rompe el corazón que el mundo haya perdido a un ser humano tan bello, un hermano para todos y un amigo al que yo tenía el orgullo de llamar mi hermano. Afortunadamente, no lo hemos perdido del todo, porque tenemos su música y nuestros recuerdos. Y esta cinta de vídeo contiene mis recuerdos más nítidos", dijo.
