Una vez más la apisonadora de Apple le ha ganado la partida a Adobe, que se ha visto forzado a ofrecer en su sistema de vídeo compatibilidad con los dispositivos de la compañía del iPhone. Así, su nuevo Flash Media Server 4.5 permitirá que se importen trabajdos de forma automática para el sistema operativo móvil iOS, instalado exclusivamente en todos los iPhone, iPad y algunos iPod. De este modo, los dispositivos de Apple dejarán de ser incompatibles con los vídeos flash.
Pese a lo que pueda parecer, esta es sólo una pequeña victoria para Apple ya que este cambio no supone que los dispositivos con iOS soporten automáticamente Flash. Simplemente, supone que los programadores podrán exportar vídeos flash como HTML5, lo que significa que los vídeos actuales presentes en la red continuarán sin ser compatibles con los dispositivos de Apple.
Apple se ha negado repetidamente a habilitar el soporte para Flash ya que, según la compañía de Steve Jobs, consume demasiado recursos del dispositivo, como memoria o batería, haciendo que éste funcione mal.
El nuevo cambio introducido por Adobe soluciona este problema permitiendo a los desarrolladores de Flash seguir trabajando con esta tecnología automatizando el proceso para de convertir los archivos en un formato que los dispositivos móviles de Apple puedan leer.
