El primer ministro italiano, Silvio Berlusconi, adelantó hoy su intención de llevar a la próxima cumbre del G8 de julio de 2009, en calidad de presidente de turno del grupo de las siete primeras potencias económicas más Rusia, una propuesta para establecer una regulación internacional de Internet.
En la próxima cumbre, que tendrá lugar en la isla italiana de la Magdalena, cercana a Cerdeña, Italia llevará la propuesta de 'reglamentar el sistema de Internet en el mundo. A Internet le hace falta una reglamentación', comentó Berlusconi durante una visita al parque tecnológico de Roma de la empresa de correos Poste Italiane.
Según el primer ministro italiano, en la próxima reunión del G8, del que Italia será presidente a partir del 1 de enero de 2009, además de los asuntos relativos a la crisis de los mercados globales, se abordará la regulación de Internet en términos internacionales.
La regulación internacional de Internet es un asunto complicado todavía pendiente en la agenda de la comunidad internacional, ya que el ámbito virtual de la Red dificulta y, en ocasiones, escapa a la aplicación de las legislaciones de cada país, sobre todo, en materia de descargas de contenidos culturales con derechos de autor.
