Hay que leer a Jorge Semprún. Es la recomendación del Gobierno que, por boca del vicepresidente primero y portavoz del Ejecutivo, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, ha valorado los libros del escritor español, 'una persona magnífica': 'Están llenos de valores, de prácticas democráticas, de coraje cívico', y compartirlo es 'el mejor homenaje' que se le puede rendir.
La recomendación llega después de que, a iniciativa de la ministra de Cultura, Ángeles González-Sinde, el Consejo de Ministros haya otorgado al intelectual la Orden de las Artes y las Letras a título póstumo. Semprún falleció el pasado día 7 en su domicilio de París.
El Ejecutivo le concede la distinción por sere 'uno de los grandes embajadores del español y su cultura por el mundo'.
El Gobierno tenía esa intención para entregarle la medalla en París, donde residía, pero no ha sido posible.
Pérez Rubalcaba ha subrayado la 'extraordinaria valía' del ex ministro socialista, su coraje y su compromiso para contar a la humanidad el sufrimiento que padeció, para que no se repita.
