Un soldado del ejército afgano ha muerto y otros dos han resultado heridos en un incidente con tropas españolas en el sur de Herat, al no atender las indicaciones que se les hicieron para que detuvieran su vehículo cuando se acercaban a un convoy, informaron a Efe fuentes del Ministerio de Defensa.
El incidente ocurrió la pasada madrugada, cuando integrantes del OMLT (instructores españoles del Ejército de Afganistán) estaban dando protección a un convoy afgano que se desplazaba desde Camp Zafra hasta la localidad de Farah.
Al advertir la presencia de un vehículo que iba hacia el convoy, se le hicieron reiterados avisos para que se detuviera en el arcén, pero 'de forma imprudente y temeraria', según las fuentes citadas, hizo caso omiso de las señales y los soldados españoles abrieron fuego siguiendo las normas existentes.
Posteriormente se pudo comprobar que el vehículo pertenecía al ejército afgano y pretendía incorporarse al convoy. Los heridos fueron evacuados al hospital Role-2 de Herat por helicópteros españoles y se encuentran fuera de peligro. El incidente ha ocurrido cuando aún era de noche, en torno a las seis de la mañana en Afganistán y a unos 50 kilómetros al sur de Herat.
