Alrededor de 16.000 inmigrantes han intentado entrar a Melilla en 2014 a través de la valla, que ha registrado casi 40 tentativas en apenas ocho meses, lo que evidencia la extrema presión migratoria que sufre la ciudad autónoma.
Según datos de la Delegación del Gobierno, unos 1.900 inmigrantes subsaharianos han conseguido superar el vallado perimetral de Melilla, aunque en total, el número de inmigrantes que han accedido a la ciudad este año ronda los 3.600 [ya superan a los 3.245 que lograron entrar en 2005].
La diferencia está en los que han conseguido entrar a la ciudad utilizando otras vías, desde pateras a dobles fondos, pero también en el número de sirios que han cruzado los puestos fronterizos aprovechando su parecido físico con marroquíes.
En los seis primeros meses del 2014, trataron de saltar el vallado alrededor de 11.500 personas en algo más de una veintena de intentos, frente a los más de 4.000 que lo han hecho en la segunda mitad del año en 15 tentativas. De los 1.900 subsaharianos que han conseguido el objetivo de cruzar el perímetro, la mayoría (casi 1.800) lo hicieron en el primer semestre, mientras que en lo que va de segundo semestre la cifra es de apenas 120.
La clave viene marcada, en parte, por la instalación de la malla antritrepa, un elemento que, si bien es superable, otorga un mayor tiempo de reacción a la Guardia Civil, según han explicado fuentes policiales.
