Un total de 23.983 mujeres han renovado su compromiso con las Fuerzas Armadas en los últimos ocho años, según el Gobierno.
Así lo ha indicado el Ejecutivo en respuesta a una pregunta escrita formulada por la diputada del Grupo Socialista en el Congreso María del Carmen Sánchez Díaz.
La mayoría de las mujeres (15.604) pertenecían al Ejército de Tierra, 4.332 a la Armada, 3.921 al Ejército del Aire y 126 a los Cuerpos Comunes, según la respuesta parlamentaria a la que ha tenido acceso Efe.
En sus convocatorias anuales de plazas para tropa y marinería en las Fuerzas Armadas, el Ministerio de Defensa establece un compromiso mínimo de dos años.
Durante el año 2008, un total de 151 mujeres causaron baja voluntaria en las Fuerzas Armadas, precisa el Gobierno en la respuesta parlamentaria.
Actualmente, hay más de 15.430 mujeres militares, lo que representa el 12,3 por ciento del total de las Fuerzas Armadas, de acuerdo con los últimos datos aportados por el Ministerio de Defensa.
Por Ejércitos, Tierra cuenta con 9.700 mujeres (12 por ciento); Aire, con 2.725 (12,5 por ciento), y la Armada, con 2.380 (11,7 por ciento).
En los Cuerpos Comunes, el porcentaje de mujeres se eleva al 18,2 por ciento.
