Al menos 11 supuestos insurgentes, incluidos algunos extranjeros, han muerto y varios han resultado heridos en dos ataques con misiles supuestamente lanzados por aviones no tripulados de EEUU en diferentes zonas tribales paquistaníes, informó hoy la cadena privada "Dawn".
El primero de los ataques, que se registró a última hora del viernes, tuvo como objetivo una vivienda de una pequeña localidad del distrito de Mir Alí, situado en Waziristán del Norte, y acabó con la vida de cinco personas.
La segunda acción sucedió pocas horas después en una zona situada en la frontera entre las regiones de Waziristán del Norte y del Sur conocida como Mirkhani, donde otras seis personas perecieron.
Desde que comenzó 2009 se han registrado una decena de ataques de aviones espía estadounidenses en el cinturón tribal fronterizo con Afganistán, considerado un feudo de diversos grupos talibanes y miembros de la red terrorista Al Qaeda.
El pasado jueves, una de estas acciones causó heridas al líder de los talibanes en Pakistán, Hakimulá Mehsud, según fuentes tribales y de inteligencia consultadas por Efe, aunque también circulan versiones no confirmadas de su muerte.
Los principales portavoces insurgentes difundieron ayer una cinta de audio en la que un supuesto Mehsud advierte de las consecuencias de los ataques con misiles y desmiente rumores sobre su muerte y sobre el éxito de la operación militar en Waziristán del Sur.
No obstante, el cabecilla talibán no hace ninguna referencia a la acción que lo ha dejado herido.
