El pintor y escultor alemán Anselm Kiefer recibirá el Premio de la Paz del Gremio de Libreros y Editores Alemanes, que le será entregado como colofón de la Feria Internacional del Libro de Fráncfort el próximo octubre.
Kiefer, de 63 años, será reconocido con este galardón -uno de los más prestigiosos de Alemania- por haber desarrollado un lenguaje visual "que convierte al observador en lector", señaló hoy el jurado en su argumentación.
En opinión del jurado, el artista, discípulo de Joseph Beuys, ha sabido provocar a sus contemporáneos con un "mensaje moral sobre lo ruinoso y lo perecedero".
Con su obra, siempre ligada a la política, Kiefer ha reflexionado entre otras cuestiones sobre si es posible que después del Holocausto todavía pueda seguir habiendo creadores alemanes.
"El artista actúa como un conquistador genial y consciente, que se apodera de una expresiva pintura, rica en texturas, y que transfiere como botín a su propio mundo metafórico", destacó el jurado.
El Premio de la Paz, dotado con 25.000 euros, le será entregado el próximo 19 de octubre, última jornada de la Feria de Fráncfort, que tendrá a Turquía como país invitado y es considerada el mayor escaparate de la industria librera del mundo.
El galardón de los Libreros Alemania fue instituido en 1955 y se otorga anualmente a escritores, filósofos, científicos o políticos en reconocimiento tanto a su obra como a su aportación a los valores democráticos, los derechos humanos o su trayectoria intelectual.
