La explosión de una bomba en un concurrido mercado en la ciudad paquistaní de Peshawar causó el miércoles más de 30 muertos y decenas de heridos, dijeron las autoridades.
La explosión se produjo varias horas después de que la secretaria de Estado de Estados Unidos, Hillary Clinton, llegara a Pakistán, prometiendo un nuevo comienzo en las relaciones con un socio cada vez más asediado por la insurgencia islamista.
Sahib Gul, un médico del principal hospital de la ciudad, dijo que habían recibido más de 30 cadáveres, junto con más de 50 heridos.
"Tenemos más de 30 muertos, pero el número puede aumentar", dijo Gul a Reuters.
"También tenemos muchos heridos, pero no tenemos sitio para todos, así que estamos trasladando algunos a otro hospital".
"Hasta ahora tenemos 30 muertos y 100 heridos", dijo Sahibzada Anis, máximo responsable de la administración de Peshawar a Reuters.
La bomba explotó en el mercado de la calle Peepal Mandi, en la parte vieja de la ciudad de Peshawar, situada en el noroeste del país.
