Las salidas del argentino Leo Franco, que jugará en el Galatasaray turco, y del francés Gregory Coupet, que hoy firmó con el París Saint Germain, dejan al Atlético de Madrid sin porteros en el primer equipo, a la espera de la llegada al club rojiblanco del guardameta del Valladolid Sergio Asenjo.
Las negociaciones están muy avanzadas para el fichaje del arquero internacional sub'21, que ya ha reiterado en numerosas ocasiones su deseo de jugar en el Atlético y sólo falta que se certifique definitivamente el acuerdo entre clubes, aunque las dos entidades ya dan prácticamente por hecha su incorporación al equipo madrileño.
Asenjo será el portero del nuevo proyecto rojiblanco, pero de momento, y a falta de concretar totalmente ese fichaje y de que el club decida el segundo guardameta, el Atlético se ha quedado sin arqueros a falta de doce días para el inicio de la pretemporada, tras el traspaso de Coupet y el fin de contrato de Leo Franco.
El argentino, titular indiscutible en sus cinco campañas en el equipo, al que llegó en el verano de 2004 procedente del Mallorca y en el que es el quinto portero con más partidos jugados en Liga de la historia de la entidad rojiblanca, cierra su etapa en el Atlético por fin de contrato, tras no llegar a un acuerdo para la renovación. Su próximo destino será el Galatasaray turco.
También ha salido del club el francés Gregory Coupet, que hoy firmó un contrato de dos campañas con el París Saint Germain. El guardameta regresará a su país, después de su paso de un año por el Atlético, con el que sólo disputó once de los 52 encuentros oficiales de ese equipo durante la pasada temporada.
Ángel Bernabé, que fue el tercer portero durante ese curso, también iniciará la próxima campaña una nueva aventura fuera del conjunto rojiblanco.
El canterano, de 22 años y criado en las categorías inferiores del club, fue presentado hoy como nuevo jugador del Salamanca por tres temporadas.
