Rafa Benítez, entrenador del Liverpool, ha manifestado respecto a la posible actuación de la selección española en la próxima Eurocopa que hay que ser optimistas, ya que en su opinión el combinado nacional esta capacitado para lograr títulos.
"Todos miramos con ilusión lo que puede hacer la selección española porque esta capacitada para conseguir títulos. Tiene un buen equipo y un buen técnico, por lo que hay que ser optimistas. Luis tiene una gran selección y va a hacer una gran Eurocopa", aseguró.
Benítez realizó estas manifestación en la Universidad de Elche, donde hoy ha sido investido doctor 'Honoris Causa' y donde ha mantenido un encuentro con los estudiantes de la licenciatura de Ciencias del Deporte.
Sobre la distinta aportación goleadora de Fernando Torres en el Liverpool y en la selección española, el técnico madrileño señaló que tiene la esperanza de que el delantero va a hacer también goles con España "porque lo conozco perfectamente".
"En el Liverpool consigue muchos más porque trabaja diariamente durante nueve meses y eso le da un plus en su rendimiento. Allí esta mucho más compenetrado con su compañeros, mientras que en la selección, donde hay mucho nivel, no lo esta tanto", razonó.
Respecto a la paradoja que supone que este año la final de la Liga de Campeones la hayan disputados dos clubes ingleses y que la selección inglesa no haya logrado la clasificación para la Eurocopa, el ex entrenador del Valencia lo achacó a la gran cantidad de jugadores importantes extranjeros que hay en los clubes más potentes de la Premier.
"Hay cuatro clubes que son muy fuertes con jugadores extranjeros y puede entenderse como normal que la final la hayan jugados dos clubes ingleses por el potencial que tienen, mientras que la selección no puede contar con jugadores de fuera y es mucho más complicado", apuntó.
