El ex presidente de Estados Unidos Bill Clinton ha llegado a Pyongyang para negociar la liberación de las dos periodistas estadounidenses condenadas a doce años de trabajos forzosos, informaron medios de comunicación norcoreanos.
Según la Radio Pyongyang y la cadena de televisión pública Korean Central Broadcasting Station, citadas por la agencia surcoreana Yonhap, el vuelo de Clinton llegó al aeropuerto Sunan, en Pyongyang.
Según fuentes diplomáticas citadas por el diario surcoreano Chosun Ilbo, que divulgó la noticia de la visita, ningún funcionario del Gobierno de Washington parece formar parte de la delegación del ex presidente estadounidense.
Las dos periodistas de Estados Unidos de origen asiático, Euna Lee, de 36 años, y Laura Ling, de 32 años, que trabajan para el medio de internet Current TV, con sede en San Francisco (EEUU), fueron detenidas el 17 de marzo en la frontera norcoreana con China.
La detención tuvo lugar mientras grababan imágenes para un documental sobre el tráfico de mujeres refugiadas norcoreanas.
Tras un juicio desarrollado en junio en Pyongyang, el principal tribunal de Corea del Norte condenó a las dos reporteras a doce años de trabajos forzados por entrada ilegal en su territorio.
Corea del Norte y Estados Unidos han estado llevando a cabo "consultas activas" sobre las detenidas durante las últimas semanas, según las fuentes citadas por Yonhap.
