Una bomba estalló hoy, aunque no causó heridos, ante el despacho del exprimer ministro socialista griego Costas Simitis, en el centro de Atenas, informó la policía.
La explosión se produjo sobre las 21.00 hora local (18.00 GMT) ante las oficinas de la Fundación Costas Simitis y el incendio que provocó quedó extinguido poco después de la intervención de los bomberos, según informó el canal de televisión Skai.
Simitis, de 75 años, fue jefe de Gobierno entre 1996 y 2004, cuando se completó la entrada del país en la zona del euro.
En 2010, las oficinas de la fundación ya fueron blanco de un atentado con varias bombonas de gas, que, al igual que hoy, causó daños materiales pero no heridos y que fue reivindicado por un grupo armado anarquista.
El Gobierno griego condenó hoy en un comunicado el atentado y aseguró que fracasará cualquier intento de desestabilizar el país ante de las elecciones parlamentarias previstas para mayo.
Los draconianos recortes presupuestarios para evitar la bancarrota aplicados por el Gobierno en los dos últimos años a cambio de la ayuda del Fondo Monetario Internacional y la zona del euro ha incrementado las protestas sociales.
