Brasil conserva una mínima ventaja de tres puntos sobre España al frente de la clasificación mensual de la FIFA, que confirmó que Francia, Portugal, Rusia y Grecia serán los cabezas de serie en el sorteo de los partidos de la repesca europea para el Mundial de Sudáfrica 2010 el próximo día 19 en Zúrich.
Tras los resultados de 192 partidos, de los que 146 fueron de clasificación para Sudáfrica, Brasil, con 1.632 puntos, continúa por delante de España, con 1.629 puntos, seguida de Holanda e Italia, que se beneficia del descenso de Alemania, ahora quinta.
Inglaterra sigue en el séptimo puesto por delante de Argentina, que sube dos, Croacia, es octava tras ascender un peldaño, igual que Francia que es noveno. El gran ganador de este mes es Portugal, que vuelve a estar entre los 10 primeros tras sus últimos resultados.
FIFA recordó que 23 equipos han obtenido la clasificación para el Mundial, 13 de los cuales se encuentran entre los 20 mejores de la tabla. Cinco de los otros equipos entre los 20 primeros tendrán que jugar un desempate por una plaza, mientras que Croacia y la República Checa son los únicos de este grupo que no irán a Sudáfrica.
En el sorteo del próximo lunes para determinar las eliminatorias de repesca en Europa entrarán también las selecciones de Bosnia-Heregovina, Eslovenia, República de Irlanda y Ucrania.
