El grupo británico de telecomunicaciones BT ha ofrecido a su personal un año entero de vacaciones a cambio de sólo el 25 por ciento de su salario, que se abonaría por adelantado.
La compañía, afectada por la crisis, intenta reducir con esa y otras medidas el gasto en personal para limitar el número de despidos permanentes.
Otra opción disponible para la plantilla es una paga única de mil libras en el caso de aceptar un régimen de tiempo parcial.
Quienes tengan hijos pequeños podrán restringir su horario laboral para pasar más tiempo con ellos, señala la empresa.
"Es sabido que BT tiene una política de recursos humanos progresista, basada en los horarios flexibles", dijo un portavoz de BT para justificar esas medidas.
BT, que tiene una plantilla de más de 100.000 personas, sufrió en el primer trimestre pérdidas de 1.300 millones de libras (1.521 millones de euros).
La empresa quiere eliminar este año unos 15.000 empleos, la mayoría en el Reino Unido, tras haber suprimido una cantidad similar el año pasado.
El mes pasado, otra compañía, British Airways, pidió a sus empleados que aceptaran trabajar de balde una semana al mes para ahorros costos.
