La ministra de Defensa, Carme Chacón, anunció hoy el traslado temporal del avión español P3-Orión, actualmente en Yibuti, a la ciudad keniana de Mombasa para reforzar el apoyo a la flota pesquera española en aguas somalíes.
Chacón, quien visita hoy a las tropas españolas que participan en la operación Atalanta de la UE contra la piratería, afirmó que con este cambio de base de operaciones se podrá estar más cerca de los pesqueros españoles que faenan en aguas del sur de Somalia y que han comenzado ahora su temporada de trabajo.
La ministra también informó de que España tiene diseñado un protocolo de actuación "que contempla varios escenarios y distintas respuestas" ante un posible ataque o secuestro contra embarcaciones pesqueras españolas.
