El Gobierno chino mencionó por primera vez directamente a Google en la polémica que mantienen los dos gigantes y recordó que la empresa estadounidense "no es una excepción" a la hora de cumplir las leyes del país.
"Las firmas extranjeras deben respetar las leyes y regulaciones de China, respetar las tradiciones y costumbres del público chino y asumir las responsabilidades sociales correspondientes, y por supuesto Google no es una excepción", declaró hoy en rueda de prensa Ma Zhaoxu, portavoz de turno del Ministerio chino de Asuntos Exteriores.
La empresa lanzó el órdago después de comprobar que varias cuentas de correo electrónico de empresas, disidentes políticos y periodistas extranjeros que aloja fueron pirateadas.
"Las acusaciones las ha realizado Google por su cuenta. China se opone a los ataques piratas y, de hecho, China ha sido el principal objetivo de los 'hackers' en 2008", recordó el portavoz chino.
Google decidió replantearse su estrategia en China, donde está presente desde hace cuatro años en versión china, al entender que no se están cumpliendo los objetivos con los que se implantó en el país y que le llevaron a transigir con la censura gubernamental.
El titán tecnológico anunció que hablaría con las autoridades chinas sobre la posibilidad de operar un servicio de búsqueda sin censura dentro de China y si eso fuera imposible, entonces cerraría Google.cn, su versión china.
El portavoz oficial Ma Zhaoxu declinó confirmar si se ya se han producido esos contactos.
Ma también aseguró que las acusaciones emitidas desde India tras haber recibido ataques informáticos invasivos, presuntamente también desde China, "no tienen base".
Las sospechas indias se suman a las denunciadas ayer por la ONG Reporteros Sin Fronteras (RSF), que expresó a través de un comunicado su "indignación y gran preocupación" tras los ciberataques contra las cuentas de correo electrónico de Gmail de varios periodistas extranjeros que trabajan en China.
Por su parte, el Club de Corresponsales Extranjeros de China (FCCC, siglas en inglés) señaló ayer a sus miembros que al menos dos medios de comunicación extranjeros habían sido víctimas de "hackers".
