El Gobierno chino está evaluando ofrecerincentivos financieros a las personas para que donen órganosvoluntariamente, informaron el lunes medios estatales,intentando revertir el problema de que la demanda detrasplantes supera la oferta.
China prohibió en el 2007 los trasplantes de órganos dedonantes vivos, excepto en el caso de los esposos, losparientes de sangre y adoptivos, y en el 2009 lanzó un sistemanacional para coordinar la donación después de la muerte.
La escasez de órganos generó un tráfico ilegal en el país.
La agencia de noticias estatal Xinhua citó al viceministrode Salud, Huang Jiefu, señalando a un periódico local que losgobiernos deberían "reducir los costos médicos de los donantesdurante su estadía en el hospital y los gastos funerarios".
"También podría considerarse otra compensación financiera,como descuentos en impuestos, seguros médicos o exención delpago de matrículas para los familiares de los donantes", indicóHuang según mencionó Xinhua.
Para fin de este año, los chinos también tendrán la opciónde registrarse como donantes de órganos cuando acudan a sacarsu registro de conducir, por lo que habrá un registro dedonantes en caso de que un conductor fallezca, señaló Huang.
"La medida apunta a hacer más eficiente el sistema deregistro de donantes para expandir los órganos disponibles paracirugías de trasplante", añadió el funcionario, aunque nadieserá obligado a registrarse como potencial donante.
Casi 1,5 millones de personas en China necesitan untrasplante de órganos cada año, pero sólo 10.000 puedenrecibirlo, según el Ministerio de Salud.
Según medios chinos, muchos órganos para trasplante aun seextraen de criminales ejecutados, algo sobre lo que los altosfuncionarios de salud expresaron su desagrado.
