El cine será el eje temático de las exposiciones organizadas por el Área Multimedia para la 15 edición del Festival Internacional de Música Avanzada y Arte Multimedia de Barcelona, Sónar.
En las diferentes exposiciones, se podrán contemplar unas cuarenta obras digitales con el denominador común del cine, con el que el Sónar inaugura la nueva estrategia de articular todas las áreas expositivas alrededor de un tema.
Por su espectacularidad, destaca el área "Future past cinema", una exposición que en el CCCB transporta al visitante al fascinante universo de la imagen en movimiento del siglo XIX a través de los ojos de los artistas del arte contemporáneo de nuevos medios.
La muestra se complementa con la exposición en paralelo de una decena de máquinas del siglo XIX, provenientes del Museo del Cine de Girona, como linternas mágicas, zootropos, panoramas, cajas ópticas, o cronofotografías.
El resultado final es una "puesta al día" de aquellos ingenios como si hubieran evolucionado a lo largo del siglo XX y el cinematógrafo de los Lumière se hubiera estancado.
Marnix De Nijs ofrece al visitante la visión de una imagen a 360º, sentado en una estructura giratoria, similar a la que brindaban los antiguos panoramas.
Takashi Kawashima redescubre el mundo de las sombras chinescas mezclándolas con las posibilidades de la informática; y Andy Cameron, inspirado en la cronofotografía, graba la imagen del observador y la devuelve reconstruida secuencialmente en un "videowall".
Los artistas Paola Guimerans, Horacio González e Igor González han organizado con su proyecto "Biophionitos" un taller de creación de zootropos que los participantes podrán llevarse a sus casas.
