India probablemente retrase la concesión del espectro inalámbrico de tercera generación (3G) hasta septiembre cuando el espectro radioeléctrico esté disponible, dijeron el fin de semana periódicos locales.
El proceso de subasta fue programado previamente para que empezara el 14 de enero pero se retrasó debido a la incertidumbre sobre el número de plazas y a la no disponibilidad del espectro, dijo el periódico Business Standard.
Se esperaba que el Gobierno completara la subasta de 3G en marzo, y había estimado en julio del año pasado que la cesión de licencias del espectro podría generar beneficios de 350.000 millones de rupias (5.480 millones de euros).
La imposibilidad de generar tal cantidad haría aumentar el déficit fiscal un 0,6 por ciento y conducirá a un incremento de la deuda en el actual año fiscal, dijo The Times of India.
El actual año fiscal termina el 31 de marzo.
Se espera que la subasta tenga lugar entre agosto y septiembre de este año, dijeron los periódicos The Times of India y Economic Times, citando responsables anónimos del Gobierno.
El Ministro de la Ley indio Veerappa Moily ha dicho que la subasta debería celebrarse cuando el espectro esté disponible, dijo The Times of India, citando un responsable anónimo del Departamento de Telecomunicaciones.
