Julián Esteban Rivera, sobrino de un republicano ejecutado durante el franquismo que está enterrado en una fosa común del cementerio municipal de Navahermosa (Toledo), ha pedido que se desautorice la celebración de la eucaristía en el Día de los Difuntos sobre dicha fosa.
El familiar ha pedido que se evite la humillación de 140 víctimas del franquismo y ha instado al Ayuntamiento de Navahermosa a que desautorice la celebración del acto religioso sobre la sepultura en la que se encuentran personas que, como su tío, "renegaron en vida de toda creencia religiosa".
Por ello, ha tildado de "provocación religiosa" o de "un simple error de apreciación" que cada 1 de noviembre -Día de los Difuntos- se venga celebrando el ritual religioso sobre el nicho en el que se encuentran 140 republicanos, ejecutados entre mayo de 1939 y marzo de 1942.
Rivera ha manifestado que su tío fue fusilado el 21 de octubre de 1941 "por defender la Constitución española de 1931", al ser considerado como "rebelde y traidor".
"Es inaudito que en el lugar donde fueron abandonadas víctimas tan significativamente desafectas a la religión católica como anarquistas, comunistas, socialistas, simples republicanos, bandoleros huidos de la sierra, agnósticos y ateos (...) se celebre una eucaristía católica", ha mantenido.
Rivera ha recordado al consistorio de Navahermosa que la gestión del cementerio es competencia del gobierno municipal y le ha pedido la desautorización de la celebración religiosa, para evitar así "una profanación de la memoria debida a los muertos (...) y el desprecio y humillación a los familiares".
