El vertido al océano Pacífico de miles de toneladas de agua radiactiva procedentes de uno de los reactores nucleares de la central de Fukushima se ha podido interrumpir con la ayuda de agentes químicos, informó Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) gestora de la central.
Según informaciones recogidas por la prensa japonesa, TEPCO logró cortar el flujo tras inyectar 1.500 litros de silicato sódico, conocido como "vidrio soluble", y otro agente químico a la corriente del agua radiactiva.
El vertido de más de 11.000 toneladas de agua con altos niveles de radiación de depósitos especiales y sótanos de los reactores 5 y 6 de la central había comenzado el lunes para dejar espacio al agua aún más radiactiva que inunda los edificios de los reactores 1, 2 y 3, los más dañados de Fukushima Daiichi en el terremoto y tsunami del 11 del mes pasado.
