El Consejo de ministros italiano declaró ayer un día de luto nacional por las víctimas del terremoto que asoló ayer el centro de Italia y que se ha cobrado la vida de casi dos centenares de personas.
El primer ministro italiano, Silvio Berlusconi, acaba de aterrizar en L'Aquila, donde volverá a repasar con las autoridades la situación y comparecerá ante los medios. Ayer, durante una entrevista con el canal Matrix, dijo que "todo lo que se puede hacer humanamente lo estamos haciendo".
El Gobierno italiano tiene pensado invertir 30 millones de euros en las labores de rescate y desescombro y que servirán también para proporcionar ayuda de forma inmediata para los damnificados. Asimismo agradeció la ayuda que se está ofreciendo del exterior: "Son 35 los países que nos han ofrecido solidaridad y apoyo, pero por el momento no tenemos necesidad: por ahora nos bastamos con nuestras fuerzas".
Sin embargo afirmó que posteriormente se hará una petición a los fondos europeos que podrá ascender a algunos cientos de millones de euros. Berlusconi añadió que son necesarios en la zona devastada 1.200 bomberos y mil soldados más.
