El tenista serbio Novak Djokovic siguió el lunes por el buen camino en el Roland Garros por 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 y 6-2 al estadounidense Robby Ginepri, llegando a cuartos de final.
Ginepri se animó a jugar de igual a igual con Djokovic, que ganó el primer set pero luego perdió el segundo, cuando el estadounidense se impuso con potentes golpes desde el fondo de la pista.
Ginepri, de 27 años, tuvo mala suerte al perder el primer set, después de haber tenido un servicio constantesido confiable y haber contado con tres puntos para 'break'.
Djokovic se vio sorprendido por algunas jugadas en las que su rival impuso el ritmo y se ganó al público, pero finalmente fue el serbio quien mantuvo la calma y, con un juego regular, terminó por llevarse los dos sets restantes.
El tercer preclasificado, que jugó en una abarrotado pista Philippe Chatrier, concretó su victoria en un total de dos horas y 17 minutos, cuando su oponente dejó una devolución en la red.
"Una vez más terminé al máximo", dijo Djokovic en una entrevista a pie de pista. "Estoy en gran forma para la segunda semana del torneo", agregó.
El serbio jugará en cuartos de final frente al austríaco Jürgen Melzer, que el lunes derrotó al ruso Teimuraz Gabashvili por 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-1 y 6-4.
