El dólar caía en Asia a un mínimo de 14 meses el jueves frente a una cesta de divisas al verse alentados los inversores a comprar la divisa australiana y otras monedas en detrimento del dólar por unos comentarios del presidente el Banco Central de Australia.
El responsable de política monetaria de Australia dijo que los tipos de interés en ese país tendrían que ajustarse a unos niveles más acordes con la reactivación de la economía, reforzando las expectativas de una nueva subida de tipos en noviembre.
El dólar australiano subía a su nivel más alto en 14 meses frente al billete verde al superar el nivel de 0,92 dólares y empujaba al alza también a otras monedas como el dólar canadiense y el euro, que marcaba su nivel más alto desde agosto de 2008.
"El descenso del dólar se produce en unas condiciones de mercado favorables, con las acciones en alza, así que no hay miedo," dijo Kosuke Hanao, de HSBC en Tokio.
A las 0825 horas, el dólar cotizaba a 1,4945/48 dólares por euro y a 89,46/49 yenes.
