Desde hace una hora, en la página principal de Twitter figura el siguiente mensaje: "Twitter is over capacity. Too many tweets! Please wait a moment and try again" (Twitter ha excedido su capacidad. Demasiados 'tweets'. Por favor, espere un momento y vuelva a intentarlo).
En la Red, algunos apuntan a que el nuevo terremoto que ha sacudido a Haití está provocando una sobrecarga de 'tweets' en el servicio online de microblogs. Pero el error no es nuevo, y de hecho es uno de los problemas del servicio de Twitter que más quejas genera por parte de sus usuarios.
En términos técnicos, el error es el mismo que se produce en cualquier página web redireccionado a la página 503 de 'servicio no disponible'. Este código de estado indica que el servidor web de Twitter actualmente es incapaz de manejar la solicitud de acceso.
En algunas ocasiones, casi siempre coincidiendo que eventos de trascendencia mundial, el tráfico de Twitter es muy numeroso y la entrada de nuevos mensajes se produce de forma acelerada. Entonces sus servidores Web se ven incapaz de manejar tan rápidamente los datos.
Debido a su limitación de 140 caracteres por mensaje, en Twitter es necesario escribir varios mensajes cuando se quiere comunicar algo con mayor entidad.
