La economía de Estados Unidos creció un 5,7 por ciento en el cuarto trimestre, un ritmo superior al esperado y el avance más intenso en más de seis años, ya que los empresarios redujeron los inventarios con menor agresividad, dijo el viernes el Departamento de Comercio.
La estimación avanzada mostró que el Producto Interior Bruto de Estados Unidos creció a su ritmo más rápido desde el tercer trimestre de 2003.
La economía se expandió a una tasa anual del 2,2 por ciento en el tercer trimestre.
Los analistas consultados por Reuters esperaban que el PIB, que mide la producción total de bienes y servicios dentro de las fronteras de Estados Unidos, mostrara un crecimiento del 4,6 por ciento en el periodo octubre-diciembre.
