Un profesor de la escuela Sidwell a la que asisten las hijas del presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, fue acusado de abuso sexual de un menor por la policía de los condados de Montgomery y Queen Anne, en el estado de Maryland, informó ayer el portal digital del diario The Washington Post.
Robert Peterson, de 65 años y profesor de estudios sociales, fue despedido el miércoles luego de haber sido suspendido el pasado 14 de enero, publica el diario.
A la escuela intermedia de Sidwell asisten las dos hijas de Obama. Sasha, de 8 años, quien está en tercer grado, y Malia, de 11, en sexto.
Un portavoz de la Casa Blanca declinó formular comentarios sobre la información.
Peterson, quien enseñaba en los grados séptimo y octavo, tiene prohibido acercarse a los predios académicos o asistir a eventos patrocinados por la escuela desde que se inició el año escolar.
Según documentos del condado de Montgomery con fecha 14 de enero, Peterson se hizo amigo de un estudiante de Sidwell y lo invitó en repetidas ocasiones a su casa.
Allí mostró al muchacho pornografía y lo tocó de manera inadecuada, dijo The Washington Post.
En Montgomery Peterson fue acusado formalmente de abuso sexual de un menor y de dos cargos de delito sexual siendo puesto en libertad tras el pago de una fianza de 250.000 dólares, dijo el diario.
Una acusación similar fue presentada contra el profesor en el condado de Queen Anne, añadió.
