El ministro nepalí de Interior, Prasad Situala, aseguró hoy que el ex rey Gyanendra abandonará mañana, finalmente el Palacio Real de Narayanhiti, situado en Katmandú.
"El antiguo rey dejará mañana Narayanhiti", dijo en rueda de prensa Situala, quien añadió que Gyanendra deberá entregar al Gobierno todas las propiedades que se encuentran en el complejo.
El ministro de Interior, citado por la agencia "Nepal News", recordó que el Gobierno había permitido a Gyanendra permanecer en la residencia tras acceder a la demanda del ex monarca, que pidió más tiempo para llevar a cabo su traslado.
Nepal proclamó la República el pasado 28 de mayo y abolió la Monarquía en la primera reunión de la Asamblea Constituyente.
El Ejecutivo dio un plazo de 15 días al ex monarca para abandonar el Palacio, que vence mañana.
Sin embargo, el Gobierno interino acordó ceder a Gyanendra como residencia el que ha sido hasta ahora su Palacio de verano, el de Nagarjun, situado en lo alto de una colina en las afueras de Katmandú.
El país del Himalaya ha dejado atrás 240 años de Monarquía después de un complicado proceso de paz que puso fin en noviembre de 2006 a diez años de guerra entre el Gobierno y la guerrilla maoísta.
Aún tiene que formarse el nuevo Ejecutivo, que será encabezado por los maoístas, vencedores en los comicios del pasado mes de abril.
