Victoria, La hermana de la abogada española encarcelada desde 2006 en los EEUU María José Carrascosa, ha expresado hoy el rechazo de la familia a que la valenciana recurra su condena ante los tribunales de Nueva York porque eso impide que pueda volver a España y sea operada del tumor que padece.
La decisión de Carrascosa tras la sentencia dictada el pasado 23 de diciembre, que le condena a 14 años de cárcel por un conflicto relacionado con la custodia de la hija que tuvo con un estadounidense, "nos está matando", ha asegurado su hermana Victoria ante las puertas del Consulado estadounidense en Valencia, donde pretendía entregar el manifiesto que se leerá en la concentración convocada para el próximo domingo en Valencia de apoyo a la abogada.
Según ha explicado, la familia "comprende" que María José haya decidido presentar un nuevo recurso contra su condena, "por la situación en la que se encuentra", pero le piden que "recapacite" ya que en los Estados Unidos no "le van a dar nunca la razón".
Asimismo, ha destacado que en esta difícil situación "lo bueno" sería que respetasen las sentencias de la justicia española y que se llegara "a un posible acuerdo para quitarse los cargos mutuamente", aunque ha reconocido que el padre, Peter Innes, "no quiere negociar" pese a estar dispuesto a venir a España para abordar este asunto.
